"Female Empowerment in the Pop Industry"
This series follows an editorial article depicting female trailblazers, like Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo, within the pop music industry. Two anonymous "pop stars" are portrayed, detailing the most important ways that women have grown to dominate the music industry within the past few years.
"Mermaids of Lake Erie"
Two mermaid-like women have emerged from the murky waters of Lake Erie, seemingly coming from a whole other group of humans living underwater. This series accompanies a short, fictional article detailing the sightings in Cleveland, OH.
"Barbie Bodies"
This series follows a narrative of women posing for fashion shoots with their heads represented on Barbie doll bodies. This is to play on the idea that women must be thin and tiny to be accepted by the fashion world. Each "Barbie" is represented as the beauty standard of perfection that is seen throughout all media.
"Vinyl"
This series focuses on the feeling of calm and tranquility when listening to vinyl. The resurgence in popularity of vinyl records has reached people across the globe, and this project was a way of honing that energy into photographs.
"Norma"
"Norma" is a project I passionately modeled after the life of Marilyn Monroe, AKA Norma Jeane. Through these photographs, I am giving the viewer a window into the life she could have had outside of fame. Whether it's reading a book during a quiet night, or lighting a cigarette at a gas station, this project aims to showcase a romanticized version of a normal life for Norma.
"Vintage Rollers"
How often do you see vintage advertisements of young women in cute little slip dresses having the time of their life rolling their hair into velcro rollers? Pretty often, I'd say. This series demonstrates modern young women doing just that, and still having the times of their lives.
"Feminine Fruits"
There are countless advertisements in the media today that depict women's genitalia using fruit. We don't have fruit down there, though, so why beat around the bush? This series highlights the different fruits that are seen in these adverisments all over the globe, along with the "delicate flowers" also associated with women's vaginas.
